Uganda at a glance

Whether you are a first time safari goer or a seasonal African traveler, Uganda with its unique blend of Savannah and forest creatures, its rear wealth of montane and lake habitats is simply dazzling. Uganda, the pearl of Africa is the meeting point of the East African Savannah and the West African jungle with a unique geographical setting that provides for a rare mix of observing lions prowling the open plains in the morning, track the chimpanzees through a rain forest in the same after noon, next day navigate the tropical channels teeming with hippos and Nile crocodiles before setting off into the misty mountains to stare  deep into the eyes of a Mountain Gorilla, but wait, there is more to this country than just wild life. The mighty river Nile that flows on a 3,000km journey down stream to Egypt in 90 days punctuated by a series of falls that include Murchison falls and one of the world’s most thrilling commercial white water rafting spots at the Bujjagali falls. Go hiking in the snow capped Rwenzori mountain ranges for an exhilarating challenge through highland scenery. Start or wind up your tour of the Pearl of Africa in the idyllic Ssese islands of Lake Victoria or Lake Bunyonyi or better still, Break off during safari for a day or two in the picturistique forest fringed Crater Lakes that stud the Rift valley floor and escarpment around Fort portal town.

The capital

The capital Kampala is serviced by Entebbe International Airport 40 kms away. The capital itself sprawls across seven hills each of historical importance to the country’s religions, culture and the economy. It is a modern cosmopolitan city bustling with economic activity while reaping from the benefits of political stability that has characterized Uganda since 1986.

Getting there.
Entebbe International Airport is serviced by a number of International airlines, including SN Brussels, British Airways, South African Airways, Air Tanzania, Rwanda Air Express, Egypt Airways and Ethiopian Airways.
Uganda can also be reached by land from Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania.

On arrival.
A visa for those who require one can be purchased on the spot at Entebbe International Airport or at any over land boarder. Foreign exchange and ATM facilities are available at the airport. Our company will arrange your airport transfer to the hotel. Local time is GMT+3.

Health.
A certificate of yellow fever vaccination is required. All visitors should take malaria prophylactic drugs. It is also advisable to drink bottled water rather than tap water.

Language.
Educated Ugandans are generally fluent in English, which is the official language. However of the 30 plus different indigenous languages, Luganda is the most widely used across the country.

When to visit.
In Uganda, any time is visitation time though mountain hikes, gorilla tracking and other forest walks are more challenging during the rains which generally peak over mid September to November and March to May.
